BEETHOVEN "PASTORAL" SYMPHONY (42 mins approx) "rural lakeland in harmony" The first movement generally concentrates on pleasant summery conditions around Derwentwater, Borrowdale, several of the surrounding fells and intermixed scenes of sheep, lambs, spring & summer flowers and insects, ending with an evening visit to Watendlath. |

The second movement starts at Coniston Water and the steam ship "Gondola" gradually moving through Tarn Hows, Elterwater, Loughrigg Tarn, Langdale and Skelwith, with Grasmere from Loughrigg, Rydal Water from White Moss and Windermere ends this relaxing "watery" journey. The third movement is more lively, with various birds, waterfowl, insects and waterfalls (Scale Force, Skelwith Force) seen before a jovial Keswick agricultural show day showing copious animals, people and handicrafts. The Fourth movement experiences an eery very dry Haweswater before a storm provides a very wet day at Haweswater. The final movement takes you from rainbows and reflections to Ullswater, Aira Force and Gowbarrow, Bassenthwater with St. Bega's church, Crummock Water, Buttermere, Fleetwith, Rannerdale, Gatesgarth Farm, Loweswater, Ennerdale, Eskdale (Hardknott fort), upper Eskdale, Wastwater and the Screes, Great Gable and Castlerigg stone circle before ending in mists over Derwentwater.
