TCHAIKOVSKY VIDEO TAPE - also
available on DVD
Symphony No. 6 (Pathetique) plus
Andante from his Violin Concerto
Running time approximately 55 mins
The first movement opens with a murky moody morning
before the fog lifts to reveal an autumnal Ullswater, followed
by a lively birds section. Then a tender "love theme" shows
Derwentwater in all its beautiful autumn colours. Evening
leads to a dramatic thunderstorm, and a particularly speedy car
journey from Troutbeck to Keswick! Then lively sheep and
lambs, a leaping mouse stealing hazel nuts, the red squirrel then
getting its share (before the snowstorm) before a beautiful snowy
day at Winderemere ends the movement. The second movement
is based on Coniston Water, again with beautiful autumn colours.
The third movement shows another fast journey to suit the lively
music - this time from Ambleside to Keswick, with surprising
interludes along the way, before the final movement concentrates
on three fantastic days on the mountains during Christmas 2006-
when superb views across the sea of freezing fog are suitably
fitted to the wonderful feelings of the music.
ANDANTE from VIOLIN
CONCERTO -
has a spring theme - with sundry young birds and animals
interspersed with views including Esthwaite Water and tarns
on Claife Heights.
